Foundation Teams Up with Redskins Leadership Council to Award Grants to Local Youth
May 3, 2004 Three hundred
area youth were recognized for their hard
work, dedication and community spirit
at the fourth annual Redskins All Stars
Award Ceremony. As the title sponsor,
the Freddie Mac Foundation joined Redskins’
players Chris Samuels and Randy Thomas,
the Washington Redskins Leadership Council,
and Washington Redskins cheerleaders to
present several youth organizations with
over $75,000 in community grants. The
ceremony took place at the Redskins stadium
in Landover, MD.
"Our community's future depends
on helping youth succeed," explained
Maxine B. Baker, president and CEO, Freddie
Mac Foundation. "That's why we are
excited to be partnering with the Washington
Redskins Leadership Council on the Redskins

The top 12 winning organizations were
selected from over 200 area organizations.
The winning organizations demonstrated
creativity, uniqueness and the spirit
of community pride. Since 2000, over 30,000
area youth have participated in the Redskins
All Stars initiative and over $350,000
has been awarded in community grants.
"The Washington Redskins Leadership
Council is thrilled to partner with the

All Stars program. Working together we
hope to inspire tens of thousands of area
youth to get involved in community service
and take pride in their neighborhoods,"
said Charlene J. Lefkowitz, Executive
Director of the Leadership Council and
Community Affairs.
The Redskins All Stars Program is an
initiative of the Washington Redskins

the team, combines the influence and popularity
of the Washington Redskins with the resources
and assets of 40 Washington area corporations.
The Council consists of 40 CEOs who help
shape and define the philanthropic efforts
of the Redskins to achieve a significant
impact on communities throughout the region.
