Thank you Esther [Park] and good morning everyone. To my Korean friends in the room, "an young ha seyo". On behalf of the Freddie Mac Foundation, I'd like to welcome you. I'm excited about the opportunity today offers for all of us to learn and to share information about the range of wonderful services offered by Korean Community Service Center of Greater Washington. I'm also delighted to be celebrating the creation of a new partnership with KCSC to help end domestic violence through prevention and support.

It is our pleasure this morning to be joined by Congressmen Tom Davis and Jim Moran, Fairfax County Supervisor Penny Gross and Chairman of the KCSC board of directors, Key Young Kim. We know that you share our commitment to making Northern Virginia a great place for all of its inhabitants to live.

For more than 12 years, the Freddie Mac Foundation has been dedicated to making the world a better place for children and their families. Our commitment to opening doors to hope and opportunity for some of our most vulnerable residents has never wavered. We're honored that we have helped to make a positive difference in the communities where we live and work. That we have helped more than 1.5 million children and their families. We're also proud of the many innovative partnerships – with state and local governments, non-profits, the media and others – through which our work has been accomplished. As we look to the months and years ahead, we will continue to pursue new ways to serve children, youth and their families while supporting existing programs that have shown positive results.

The dollars we're investing in KCSC will expand the domestic violence support and prevention program. We know that preventing domestic violence and supporting the victims of abuse can be a difficult yet important step in any community. Domestic violence is not generally an issue that one talks openly about. We recognize that for many cultural reasons, reporting or even talking about domestic violence is an even bigger step in the Korean-American community. We applaud KSCS for their efforts of to bring this issue to light and to find ways to combat abuse.

From studies we know that domestic violence and child abuse often occur in the same families. Not to mention the emotional toll on children and the family caused by domestic violence. Preventing child abuse and neglect and strengthening families are top priorities for the Freddie Mac Foundation. We're pleased to further extend our commitment to serving diverse communities through this partnership.

The grant we're announcing here today marks our first involvement with KCSC, but not our first partnership with the Korean-American community. For the past four years, we have partnered with the Korean American Family Counseling Center to assist Asian-American women to build more stable home environments for their children. We're pleased to extend our work with this community.

At this time, I have something of a surprise to announce. I came here today to present a check to you, Dr. Park, for $30,000. But I'm not going to do that. As I walked through your offices, the excitement and commitment of your staff was contagious. And we at the Freddie Mac Foundation are so impressed by your program and all the wonderful work that's being accomplished here, that I am happy to present this check for $50,000 to you!

What a wonderful partnership we're embarking upon. Through our collaborative efforts, I look forward to helping many children and families. Thank you Dr. Park for all your dedication and hard work.

Thank you.
