The Foundation, which is dedicated to making home a place where families and children thrive, approved three grants benefiting Howard County during the first six months of 2008. The Foundation focuses its investing in primarily three areas: Stable Homes/Stable Families, Foster Care and Adoption, and Academic and Career Success.
Organizations serving Howard County that received grants between January and June 2008 included:
Advocates for Children and Youth received $65,000.00 to support the foster care and adoption efforts of this statewide child advocacy organization in an effort to improve outcomes for children in the Maryland foster care system.
Advocates for Children and Youth received $50,000.00 to support the efforts of this statewide, independent child advocacy organization to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and families throughout Maryland.
Ready At Five Partnership received $79,000.00 to increase the number of children in the Howard and Charles counties who meet school readiness learning goals by enhancing the knowledge, skills and credentials of early educators.
