As the Freddie Mac Foundation finishes celebrating its 15th birthday, it will also celebrate the achievements and contributions of its leader for the past nine years. At the December Foundation board of directors meeting, Maxine B. Baker, the Foundation's president and CEO, announced that she would be retiring at year's end after 25 years of distinguished service.
"Over the years, our community, company, Foundation, and in fact people across America have benefited from the creativity, the big ideas, and the commitment and leadership Maxine has brought to her work. I want to thank her for her significant and transcendent accomplishments. Her legacy is an enriched and healthier community," said Foundation Chairman Ralph F. Boyd, Jr.
Maxine has served Freddie Mac in a variety of important capacities over the years. In her current position as president and CEO of the Foundation and vice president of Community Relations for Freddie Mac, she played a major role in growing and shaping the company's philanthropic program, making it an effective and respected community investor. It was befitting then, that she was able to mark a new milestone in the Foundation's 15-year history as she too, begins a new legacy.
"I am very proud of my affiliation with this company, its people, and our accomplishments. Leading the Foundation has been exhilarating, humbling, meaningful, and impactful. I have seen how we have changed lives," said Baker. "I look forward to watching as the Foundation continues to create hope and opportunity for the most vulnerable children in our society."
