Twelve outstanding members of the Child Welfare
League of America (CWLA) recently received the Freddie
Mac Foundation's David S. Leiderman Scholarship Award
to help them pursue graduate degrees in social work,
during CWLA's 2003 National Conference in Washington,
DC.
The CWLA is the nation's oldest and largest membership-based
child welfare organization. CWLA is committed to
engaging people everywhere in promoting the well-being
of children, youth, and their families, and protecting
every child from harm.
Freddie Mac Foundation President and CEO Maxine
B. Baker presented the awards along with CWLA's President
and CEO Shay Bilchik to these 12 child welfare professionals
from across the nation. "At the Freddie Mac
Foundation, we are committed to being a catalyst
for positive change in the lives of our nation's
children. Through our partnerships with organizations
like CWLA, we are helping to ensure that our nation's
children are served by skilled, insightful and compassionate
professionals," explained Baker.
The national scholarship program is designed to
help agency employees pursue a Masters in Social
Work degree on a full-time or part-time basis. The
scholarship recipients are outstanding individuals
who have demonstrated their commitment to serving
children, youths, and their families, and who have
a desire to pursue an advanced degree and integrate
new knowledge into their child welfare careers. Click
